Love storys in video games......

Do you think Love storys in Video games are well done? I personally like these type of games that have love storys. Weven had so many good ones over the years and a few this year that were really good. For last last gen, we had games like FF VIII that had a rather well thought out Romance plot to it. also from the PS1 days, we had FF VII that, while a action game at its heart, had a rather strong build up in the Cloud/Aeries area where I seriously cried when she died. ITs that kind of storytelling and Narrative that really makes games in some cases just as compelling as a movie in those cases. Last gen we had FF X, which was also a very well done Love Story. and who can forget Shadow of the Callosous. Youd think the game would be more action oriented, but it still managed to have a romance story in that your trying to save your lover. and this gen we had some gems in this department. The Darkness was a good example because the game really built around the fact that you lost some precious to you and youll do anything to avenge her. I was seriously like ''Oh my God'' when she was killed. also, a unlikely one in DMC 4, which I thought built up very nicely around the Nero/Kirea Love connection. the narrative was very good. But theres also games that dont force the romance aspect on you, like the ''Now controversial'' Mass Effect. It really brought a new take on it by having you build a relationship with one of your squadmates and act like you connect with them deeply, which is something I want to see in games in the future.Love storys in video games......
I enjoy them if they're well told. FFVIII's was top notch.

This gen we saw The Darkness and DMC4 as you listed, The Darkness though was told with a better narrative and more insight (but that's because of the way the game was laid out). DMC4 had it as sort of a side-plot similar to FFVII's, which worked but didn't feel 100% fitting at times due to the rapid change from corny, over the top dialogue to a more serious tone.

The love story in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was well done. I can't think of much else off the top of my head.
The most classic love story in video games is also the saddest one.

Mario rescues Peach every frickin time. But he never, ever, gets some. He doesnt even get to live in the castle!
I think they all suck
If their done well I like them. I thought FF8 and 10 were good. Ten especially.
Max Payne 2 had a nice love story. Sort of unusual, but pretty nice.
Max Payne 2 had a nice love story. Sort of unusual, but pretty nice.
I don't know why but I always laugh when theres a love story involve in a game, which is pretty weird since I cry easily just by watching/reading the news and wathcing a sad movie
'love can bloom on the battlefield'MGS series much.
FFVII, FFVIII and MGS have been the best so far IMO. If they get it right, it's absolutely fantastic.
I'm personally tired of most of the stories that are/will be mentioned here. though I suppose it's because they're in every topic of this nature.
out of the FF series the ones that were well done were ff8 and ff10. DMC4 had a good ending though and the music in that scene fit the mood perfectly.
FF 8 was good. The small portion for FF 7 was good.

Other than that the love stories in games need some work.

Im not to into Lost Odyssey yet. But after what happened in COoke and Macks house Im looking forward to a whole lot in this game.

This game has actually gotten me pumped for more JRPGs, Final Fantasy 13, White Knight Story, Infinite Undsicoverey, Tales of Symphonia 2.

I mean i know i hated FF 12, but Square made 10 great Final Fantasy games before that(dont play MMOs). So they were bound to slip up eventually.
The MGS series...apparently they are the most famous love stories ever found in vidoe games, and that's what everyone will mention....I thought the love story in Shenmue 2 was nice...although there aren't too much of it...
'love can bloom on the battlefield'MGS series much.
I dont know about the love stories in MGS being to special.

I mean the sniper wolf and otacon thing was just there.

And even though i did enjoy SNake and Meryl, Raiden and Rose(that was her name right?), and Big Boss and Eva

I dont think MGS is the best example of love stories, theres more to the game than simple love story....but i do enjoy them so you get a cookie :)
