I see all these threads with people getting excited that the PS3 is starting to finally sell at levels above the Gamecube, and well... lets just say it gives me a chuckle.Who cares if the PS3 sold at a comparable rate to the 360 in its first year? How is that anything short of an abysmal failure? PS2 dominated software and outsold the GC and original Xbox at a rate of 6:1 respectively... while the PS3 is in last place, millions of units behind, has 0 AAA exclusives, and well... it will be extremely lucky to pass the 360 this gen... and its beyond delusional to think it will ever catch the Wii considering its been sold out since its release and SSBB and WiiFit havent even surfaced yet.So wait... am I supposed to be impressed ...

Not to mention PS3 had the highest price and only launched in Europe in March and it had the weakest library of games. Although I do agree with you 100% with your Wii statement. But then again, 3 posts.
i think something to be impressed by is that this Gens 3do, has survived and doing well, by historic standards and all the talk at the start, it has shut up many of those negative voices, but before i get ahead of myself, im still waiting for it to be granted a greater library, but its all good, they're coming:P

So wait.. with a price tag of 499-599$ for half of the time its been out and then launching 5 months later in Europe and having a lacking library of game you where expecting the PS3 to outsell the 360 which had a 1 year head start... :| Isnt the PS3 outselling the 360 World wide in 2007 and Reaching 10 mill faster then 360 enough :?

But the TC makes a pretty good point.
You wouldn't be impressed cuz you're clearly a fanboy. However, the rest of the industry would be impressed because it launched a year after 360, costing 200 dollars more and with no big titles its first year. Overtaking the 360 would be a huge comeback that would put Microsoft and the 360 to shame.
The ps2 didn't outsell anything it's first year... because there were no other consoles for it to outsell. In it's first year, it had more software than anything else... because there was no other software to be had.

The ps3 was a year behind, has not been out for a year in some markets, has 1 franchise game that's barely sold a million on the other PS consoles out... and still outsold the xbox in the year Halo 3 came out... all while competing against a $250 game console.

I don't know if it will ever be ''first place''... but i certainly wouldn't call a $600 console selling half as much as a $250 console an ''abysmal failure''... especially considering the 600 dollars ''doesn't buy any good games''.

You think GT 5, MGS 4, FFXIII, and GoW 3 won't be reasons to buy a 350 dollar blu ray player? Interesting.
