Okay Anyways I am trying to save some money to buy a blue-ray player, but when i went to bestbuy to check it the price, I find myself looking at 399.99$, 999.99$ and 499.99$ price tags. I was shocked. Now I know how much a 40GB player cost(400$) and we all know that Blue Ray has won the Format War. So why in the world wouldn't I buy a PS3 that comes out with a good Console, not bad games(FFIII, and GTA:D), and downloadable features???Now if I missed something like to why the Blue Ray players cost alot of money then I will gadly take my words back, but I dont thing its fake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Why in the world wouldn't I buy Playstat ...
Sorry I don't know what blue ray is.But anyway, they can only keep it cheaper than a standard player for so long. Why in the world wouldn't I buy Playstat ...
if you want a blu-ray player looks like a good choice me I like DVD
The PS3 is probably the best choice right now. I believe it's the only one on the market right now that can be firmware upgraded. So as a gamer, (I'm assuming that you are) it's really the only choice.
Yeah I want one as a Blue Ray player - there's barely any games that interest me, but looking to pick one up for Blu Ray.....
everyone at work wants to buy one for a bluray player too... they dont play games at all.. maybe madden, hardly what I call a meaningful sale.
If you look for a HD player, buy it, but not all gamers are looking for a HD player
I have been thinking the same thing... the PS3 is the same price as the cheapest blu-ray player. I could finally get rid of my PS2, assuming these PS3's are still backwards compatible with PS2 games and upscale them... but I'm not sure if they took that feature out or what.
When did BluRay win the format war?
When did BluRay win the format war?
Toshiba has axed HD-DVD production, it's official. I think there is a story on it in the news section.
When did BluRay win the format war?
When Warner announced Blu-ray exclusivity, followed by Netflix and wal-mart saying they will only carry blu-ray, resulting in a jump from hd player sales being near 50-50 to more like 93-7, and finally Toshiba throwing in the towel and saying they give up. I guess you haven't been keeping up.Yes, if you want an hd player, blu-ray is the way to go, and a ps3 is both the best, and cheapest blu-ray player. Even if you have 0 interest in games, the fact that it's a media server on top, and an excellent dvd upscaler are bonuses too.

Of course, one of the big reasons a lot of people haven't made the jump to HD was they didn't want to pick a format that was going to go the way of betamax. Now that there is a clear winner between the two, I predict a rise in the number of HD adopters.

Consider this, there are what, less than 30% market penetration for HDtvs? There aren't many bonuses inherent in HD movie format vs. DVD, not even 1/5 of the advantages of DVD vs. VHS.So, what, do you expect 100% of 30%?Do you believe that as every person gets an HDtv, that they will also get an HD movie playing device? Especially when cable does it, as well as PCs?
